Boston Logan Airport is officially known as the Gen. Edward Lawrence Logan international Airport. Originally named Boston Airport, it opened on September 8, 1923. US Army air service officer first Lieut. Donald Duke of the Army Air Corps was Boston Airport's first general manage,r and he is credited with coining the term "airport."
on April 14, 1927 Colonial Air (a predecessor of American Airlines) begins the first regular scheduled commercial passenger flights between Boston and New York. in 1943 the airport was renamed the General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport after a South Boston Spanish-American war officer.
In the summer of 1970 the era of the jumbo jet we can when Pan Am started the daily Boeing 747 service to London Heathrow Airport. when the airport opened a new Terminal E in 1974,became the second largest international arrivals facility in the United States. The airport has four terminals: Terminal A, Terminal B, Terminal C, and Terminal E (Volpe International Terminal).
Terminal A hosts airline lounges for United Airlines and Delta Airlines. terminal A is the first airport terminal United States to be LEED certified for environmentally friendly design by the US Green Building Council. the building features heat reflecting roof and windows, low flow faucets and waterless urinals, self dimming lights, and storm water filtration.
Terminal B occupies US Airways and houses the US Airways Club. In the northern part of the terminal is American Airlines.
Terminal C provide service for Cape Air, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, and mainly JetBlue Airways. The airport's USO Lounge is located in the baggage claim area of terminal C it offers typical amenities for other markets as major as greater Boston. A military ID is mandatory.
The John A. Volpe International Terminal (Terminal E) was name for the former governor of Massachusetts and the US Secretary Transportation. It serves at the as international terminal for Logan airport.

City Information
Shawmut (later to become Boston Massachusettes), was named by the first English immigrant Rev. William Blackstone. Arriving by himself in 1629, he settled on a small peninsula that was named Shawmut by the local Algonquins. John Winthrop came along with Puritan settlers and decided to make Shawmet a permanent settlement on September 17, 1630. He renamed the settlement Boston, after his hometown in Lincolnshire England.
Early in its history, Boston emerged as an educational center with the founding of Harvard University and the Boston Latin School. Along with its harbor Boston became a leading commercial center for the colonies. Along with becoming a world leader of shipbuilding, it was also the primary port of North America
As tensions grew between the Colonies and Britain, Bostonians took a leadership role in the Revolution. Boston was the scene of the Stamp Act of 1765, The Townshend Acts of 1767, which led to the Boston Master in 1770. It was also the scene of the Tea Act of 1773 which led to the Boston Tea Party. British troops were sent to Lexington and Concorde to arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock on the night of April 18, 1775, which led to Paul Revere and William Dawes to ride through the town to warn the colonists of the soldiers' arrival. A couple months later, George Washington was brought to Boston to take command of the colonial army.
